  1. Typical Bill Weber at 3:49:15. My first race at Martinsville and still
have my tickets to this day!

  2. This is probably my favorite of all of JG’s wins. If Everham would had
never left, they would seriously challenged Richard Petty/Dale Inman’s all
time Cup record of most wins by a Driver/Crew Chief combination.

  3. Lol man I bet 1:12:35 Elliott Sadler was thinking…alright, front row

  4. 1:12:22 watch Earnhardt slow down, intentionally, so Tony could get at
    Irwin LOL!

This was the race that made me a fan of NASCAR. I could never really watch
it. I tried but couldn’t find a favorite driver. I knew of Gordon,
Earnhardt, Jarrett, and the Labonte boys, but everyone liked them. I wanted
to like somebody different. Saw the Tony Stewart incident on Sportscenter,
went into work the next day, and asked my friend (who was a HUGE Earnhardt,
and NASCAR fan) what the deal was with that, and who that guy was throwing

He said, “That’s Tony Stewart. He’s a rookie this year, and he’s really
good. He’s the first to win 3 races in his rookie season, and he’s 4th in
points.” It was at that time I said, “I’m going to watch NASCAR from now
    on, and he’s my driver.”

I stayed with Tony until he left the #20 car, which I still root for. I
still root for Tony, and Logano, but Kenseth is my guy now.
But thanks to Tony, I became a huge fan of this sport.

  5. my birthday of all days gordon gets the win i was happy as hell on this

  6. i think this race was the beginning of nascar getting kinda ..bitchy

  7. Thank you so much! It was 11 years old and it was my first Winston Cup
race. Was sitting over down in turn 2, and I was a huge Gordon fan. Was
nice to see him and Earnhardt duke it out for the win.
